Resume

Enrica Haelen is a DONA trained birth doula. A former art gallery director in NYC, Enrica has been called to birth work for many years, but it wasn’t until the birth of her son that she wholeheartedly took the leap of faith to be a doula. Enrica stands out as the nurturing kind, willing to hold and open space in her heart for others. She is a trained yoga teacher, with a passion for Ayurveda.

Coming from a lineage of Italian matriarchs, Enrica was taught from a young age that women have the innate power to heal themselves, be a pillar of support for one another, and have the capability to foster the life they desire. Despite a sudden turn of events during her pregnancy, Enrica managed to create for herself with the help of her birth partner, a beautiful and memorable birth of her son, who underwent surgery at two days old and was diagnosed with Down syndrome. Now, her mission is to inform women of their possibilities and rights, help them feel empowered, and encourage them to discover their own unique, rewarding, and life-changing birth and postpartum experience. She admires the many differences in women and the many ways we birth.

Enrica emphasizes creativity, honesty, and earthliness in her philosophy as a doula, mother, and friend. Sometimes we are not able to control or change the outcome, but she believes we can always strive to shed a positive light on the outlook. Enrica feels so much gratitude for where she is today and has the immense need to give back to the community.

Enrica lives in the Hudson Valley with her son, Rafael, daughter, Agatha, and husband, Jake.
